Beautiful crepe myrtle tree

It's been a couple years but it re Jenniferally has taken off this year. Lots and lots of beautiful blooms. First received it. It came packaged very well. Healthy plant, and it even had two blooms the first year that I planted it. I actually plan on buying another one for the backyard. I have bought several trees from here and each and every one of them has done very well. Looking forward to adding to my collection with more

Worth Every Penny

I cannot believe how beautiful these Crape Myrtles are doing! They’ve tripled in size since we planted them back in April. They arrived in good shape. We planted in a raised bed to help the roots establish a little better with our awful clay soil. Right now, they are just loaded with blooms and should be quite the beauties for the next few weeks! I totally understand why they are named Thunderstruck.

Beautiful tree but not hardy enough for winter (zone 7)

I bought two of these crape myrtles last year and planted them in October. The foliage was beautiful, but the tree lost its leaves and fell into dormancy within a week with the transplant stress and wind. The stems and branches seemed healthy until January when a cold snap (-1 F) hit (zone 7). I believe that killed most of the above ground growth at that point but waited all the way through June to see if anything would come back from the roots since they usually do, but there were no signs of life. I’m sure these trees do much better if planted in spring or even summer so that they have time to harden off before winter in colder climates. Regardless, from talking with others I think you need to expect some die back in winter if you are planting in zones 6 or 7. FastGrowingTrees provided excellent customer service for the dead trees though and provided a credit for replacements. I’m replacing them with pink velour variety with more time to establish during the season before cold weather hits. Pink velour is definitely more tried and proven in colder climates than this variety, but I really liked thunderstruck’s dark foliage and was sad to see them not make it. I may have given them a 2nd try but they were out of stock.
