Hybrid Willow Tree
In January, I ordered 18 of the 2 to 3 foot Hybrid Willows which shipped mid March. They were packaged nicely in 6 packs. They were planted 3 weeks after being received, keeping them watered and split between the garage and outside. When they arrived, they averaged 32 inches tall. All of them are doing very well after the planting and hot summer we had. After 5 months being in the ground, all of them are doing very well with the shortest of the bunch is 4.5 feet and the tallest 8 feet (most are 7ft). The short one was planted without dressing the soil. Ordering another 6 to 12 from fast growing trees next spring, very happy with the trees and service from FGT.
They grow up fast!
It took about three years to establish but this small hybrid willow took off like a rocket within the last year. I'm amazed at the growth rate of these trees. Needed a "quick fix" to create a semi-privacy barrier while waiting for the other fast-growing evergreens reach full heights.
WOW!
Wow! Planted this tree about 3 weeks ago. I bought the 5-6 tree. When I planted it, it was eye level with me. Now it’s a solid 8-10 inches above me. That’s crazy. I used an organic mushroom compost mixed with a top quality soil. Here in Florida where we live it’s very sandy soil so I amended quite a bit. Planted it to create a screen from a neighbor so can’t wait to see how big this is by next summer. Should have taken photos when I planted it up to now!

Willow hybrid trees
We received our trees in two days and they were very well protected in their boxes. They were even taller than six feet that we ordered. They are very skinny so we joke about needing to go on a diet for them to be a privacy hedge, but I noticed after only a few days that they were really perking up in their new environment and are spreading out..and getting taller already. They’re in Kansas clay so we dug them a nice hole for room for their roots to grow a bit and used plenty of manure and potting soil. So far, so good!
