Unique Succulent with Twisted and Striped Leaves
Add a statement piece to your landscape or patio with this eclectic succulent. The Variegated Century Plant is a large, slowly-clumping succulent with rosettes of curly green leaves that bring a unique flair wherever it’s planted.
The foliage of the Variegated Century Plant, a type of Agave, features a unique shape and sharp spikes. Leaves stem from a central stalk, arching out and taking on a curved shape. The twisted leaves are striped with cream and yellow variegation that contrasts vibrantly against the opposing green color.
The Variegated Century Plant is a truly dramatic statement piece. Growing to a around 6 feet tall and 10 feet wide, this plant takes center stage. The bold and dramatic flair of the Variegated Century Plant pairs beautifully with golden, wispy grasses or blue or purple flowering plants.
Named for its long lifespan, the Variegated Century Plant can live several decades. However, it only flowers one time with a tall, yellow flower stalk. Once it flowers, the plant will die back and produce offshoots to regenerate a new plant.
Excellent for use in rock gardens and dry climates, the Variegated Century Plant is incredibly drought tolerant. Since it is a succulent plant, minimal to no watering is required, as it stores water in its leaves. Even during drought, extreme heat, and humidity, the Variegated Century Plant will thrive.
Add a unique statement piece to your space with the Variegated Century Plant. They may last decades in your landscape, but not on our shelves. Order now!
NOTE: This product is only available for Arizona. See Variegated Century Plants for other states.
Planting & Care
Planting: Plant your Variegated Century Plant in a location that has full to partial sun. Although this plant is adaptive to a variety of soil types, it will thrive in sandy or well draining soils. To plant, dig a hole that is 2-3 times the width and an inch less than the depth of the pot it arrived in. Using your fingers, gently loosen the roots. Backfill the dirt, allowing a slight mound around the base of the plant. Water immediately to allow the soil to settle.
If you wish to plant your Variegated Century Plant in a container, choose a pot that is twice as large as the container it arrived in and place it in a sunny location.
Watering: Water your Variegated Century Plant once every 3 days until it is established. Once established, water 1 time per week. Over watering will cause the roots to rot. Adjust water frequency as needed and don’t over water.
Fertilizer: Fertilize your Variegated Century Plant with a granulated time-release fertilizer once a year in the spring.
