Flavorful Peaches That Grow Nearly Anywhere
Why Contender Peach Trees?
When it comes to growing peaches, the mark of a winner is the diversity of the areas where they can grow – and the Contender Peach Tree is no exception. With excellent cold hardiness and tolerance to the occasional late spring frosts, it's one of the few peach varieties that will flourish in northern regions.
And in a short time, large velvety peaches will emerge from the Contender's branches like nature's work of art. Plus, this tree’s succulent, ripe peaches delight with each juicy bite. One taste and you'll know why the Contender is considered the most flavorful and fresh peach available. Even better? Unlike other peach varieties, this hardy tree produces a reliably delicious fruit that won't go brown on you before its time.

Healthy Trees Bear the Best Peaches Ever
I purchased and planted two of these trees in late winter / early spring. I’m writing this review in August, with a bowl of peaches beside me. Not only did the trees fruit during their first year (even though I bought the smaller sized ones), the peaches are the best I’ve ever tasted—very juicy and sweet, with a slight hint of tartness and richly-colored golden flesh. In comparison, grocery store peaches might as well be balls of styrofoam. As a bonus, the pink blossoms these trees produce in the spring are beautiful. I love these trees so much that I’m considering purchasing more.
Contender Peach
Didn’t think a peach tree would grow here in zone 5 where winters in Montana can drop into the -45* sub zero temperatures….and also the late spring snow squalls that can hit as late as June even when the snow melts the next day. But we’re ready! The Contender peach sounded like a winner along with the Root Rocket and 8’ Planket for the coming cold. It’s already survived a scorching hot summer here in the 90’s, due to the late delivery and mix-up with Fed Ex. (It was supposed to be delivered earlier in the week with cooler temps around the mid 70’s.) Also, we were delighted to receive a much larger tree , almost 7’ ….TaDah!! (We had ordered a 5 footer!!). It came through with flying colors and was packed beautifully with soil still moist, and not a broken limb, in full leaf and beautifully shaped like a much more mature tree! We are now anxiously awaiting our new addition, a Jane Magnolia, which I really believe will be received in the same fantastic condition as the peach…(even if the delivery gets screwed up again). We love you FGT and will never stop praising you to the skies for your great trees, plants, etc., and your excellent customer service. Can’t wait to order more. You’ve won a customer for life. Bravo!!
Great price for a great tree
Tree arrived pre trimmed and in great condition! Shipping was great and fast. I ordered the 6-7 ft one that this website offered.
Peach tree received
Just received my trees and see a little leaf damage, but overall looks healthy. Dropping this in some Soil3 compost and watch it take off!
Exactly what I Needed
Planted in the summer, survived the long utah weather, and looking amazing in the spring. Looking forward to the fruit.
