A Newer Version of the 'Barcelona' Hazelnut Tree
Here's Why it's the Super Hazelnut Tree:
- Strong tree with large green leaves
- Excellent producer of large, quality nuts
- Resists blight and most diseases
- Incredible hazelnut flavor
The New Breed in Hazelnut
If you enjoy Barcelona Filbert hazelnuts then just wait until you discover the Jefferson Filbert tree. Like a new and improved, super version of the Barcelona, the Jefferson is similar but with greater yields of larger nuts. It's also resistant to many of the problems that commonly plague Barcelona Filberts. That means concerns like blight, canker, and pests are a thing of the past thanks to a tree that was found to have a genetic mutation by the horticulturists at Oregon State University.
Aside from its improved production and tolerance, the Jefferson Filbert is a sturdy looking tree with large green leaves that will stand out in your yard or landscape. Its peak height is 12 feet, but it can be maintained as a smaller shrub for easy harvesting.
The Taste is Undeniably Hazelnut Heaven
Few nuts can match the savory taste of a good hazelnut. And when it comes to flavor, the Jefferson Filbert is best in class. The sweet and buttery flavor makes it a favorite to enhance a variety of culinary treats. From roasted hazelnut sauce over pasta, to side dishes like green beans with bacon and hazelnuts, or spiced hazelnut hummus--there's nothing quite like it. For a rich, unbeatable taste that's out of this world, try hazelnut crusted fried brie cheese.
Jefferson (Hazelnut) Trees require a pollinator to produce nuts. For best results, pair with the Theta Filbert (Hazelnut.)
Now that your mouth is watering, isn't it time you ordered a Jefferson Filbert tree for your garden or landscape?

Hazelnut tree
It’s a lovely, healthy tree. I’m very happy with it.
Great trees.
Packaging was perfect. FGT has learned and employed lots of good tricks for packing trees safely. Both trees are in the ground and looking happy as though they’d been there a year rather than two weeks. Have already bought from them again.
Purchasing
Was delivered in great shape. Seams to be a healthy plant. Will know more in the spring.
Great tree, already doing well and starting to produce new growth
Excellent! Beautiful shape when it arrived and following the advice of the experts who helped me solve issues with my other trees, is settling and acclimatizing quickly.
Just buy it!
I’ve been thinking about Hazelnut trees for a few years. When I finally decided to buy I had a really hard time finding a vendor who sold the types of trees that I wanted. Then I found FGT! YAY! OH… but they were sold out… so I checked back again and again and again but they were always sold out! In stock! Great! I will buy them in the morning . TOO LATE!!! Sold out again! My timing was FINALLY right and I ordered a Jefferson, Theta and a York. They arrived quickly and they are in the ground. They are always sold out because they are GREAT trees. If you are thinking about buying some, and they are in stock, BUY THEM RIGHT NOW! Beautiful trees. In great shape. I am really excited to have them!
